Hugo is passionate, intuitive and curios cinematographer based in Barcelona and Madrid. He like explore and find his inspiration of the cinematic and aesthetic American storytelling, as well he love to watch and feel the light and the essence of the European style movies. He enjoys helping the directors to achive the atmosphere they have in their minds.
He was born and raised in Barcelona. His passion for cinema and visual arts led him to begin with the studies as director of photography. His professional career began at a very young age whilst still studying. He started working for different production companies when he got involved with the camera department.
He was working as clapper loader and focus puller for 10 years on commercials, music videos and features. During this period he had the opportunity to work for some of the best directors and cinematographers in the world like: Darius Khondji, Rodrigo Prieto, Antonio Paladino, Javier Aguirresarobe, Max Malkin, Barry Acrkoid, Isabel Coixet, Thierry Arbogast, Adam Kimmel, Luc Besson and many others.
After that period he started to shoot his own personal projects and shot his first commercial like director of photography with Bus Production Co. For several years he was combining the camera operator, directing and direction of photography working for many renowned national and international companies, directors and brands. Nowadays He is dedicated exclusively to what really love and passionate about, director of photography.
He live and work between Barcelona, Madrid and anywhere in the globe that needs it.
